Who owns the book >Watch and Clock Makers Handbook< by F.J.Britten can study the procedure on page 132-133. Silvering glamorizes the surfaces with a fine grain which covers scratches and marks. The photos show the grain over the range where the cutout was rebushed and soldered on 9th April.

Now we see nothing any more.
Over the silvering is to brush in order to shine brilliantly if the surface is gilded.
